Making Godly Decisions,10 Scriptural Questions To Guide You

Making Godly Decisions

making godly decisions is certainly hard

We all have tough decisions to make and in a world where evil is surrounding us it’s tough to find the right answers sometimes.  Thankfully there are some questions you can ask yourself to help you move forward with confidence.  Making godly decisions is not as hard as it may seem.

1. Can I do this with a clear conscience and a heart at peace?

Romans 14:22 “Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who doesn’t judge himself in that which he approves.”

Colossians 3:15 “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body, and be thankful.”

Making godly decisions has an array of questions tied with it mostly about the affects it has on you and the affects it has on fellow believers.

2. Can I enter into it wholeheartedly?

Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor plan, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol,* where you are going.”

Colossians 2:23 “And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men,”

3. Can I do this to the glory of God?

1 Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore you eat, or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

It’s important when making godly decisions that the name of God can be glorified in it.  Certainly this puts an instant halt to doing anything remotely shady.

4. Can I do this in Christ’s name?

Colossians 3:17 “Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through him.”

5. Will it be helpful to my spiritual life?

1 Corinthians 10:23  “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are profitable. “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things build up.

6. Will it enslave me?

1 Corinthians 6:12 “All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are expedient. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be brought under the power of anything.

7. Will it endanger my health?

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 “Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, 20 for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

8. Will it minister to my fallen nature or lead me into temptation?

Romans 13 and 14

Galatians 5:13 “For you, brothers, were called for freedom. Only don’t use your freedom for gain to the flesh, but through love be servants to one another.”

9. Will it stumble a fellow believer who is weaker than I am?

1 Corinthians 8:9 “But be careful that by no means does this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to the weak.”

Romans 15:1-2 “Now we who are strong ought to bear the weaknesses of the weak, and not to please ourselves. Let each one of us please his neighbor for that which is good, to be building him up.”

10. Is it likely to be misunderstood?

Romans 14:16 and 19 16 Then don’t let your good be slandered,  19 So then, let’s follow after things which make for peace, and things by which we may build one another up.”
